[15a-4D-1] High sensitivity temperature sensing based on the measurement of optical fiber lengths

We have demonstrated a highly accurate and sensitive measurement method of optical fiber lengths using a gain-switched semiconductor laser with delayed optical feedback. Using the same optical system including a 1 km optical fiber, we propose here a simple but accurate temperature sensing method. The system can measure water temperature in the range of 0 to 20 deg C by a temperature resolution of 0.001 deg C.
