The softness of organic semiconductors, which makes them totally suited for flexible applications, also offers an idea about the modulation of the charge transport when the crystal structure is largely strained. Here we show that the mobility of solution-processed organic semiconductor single crystals increases by 70% under uniaxial compressive strain up to ~3%, which can be induced simply by bending flexible substrates. The mechanism of the increase is discussed with calculation on band structure and molecular vibrations.
