Low-dimensional materials like transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC) have very characteristic photoluminescence properties. They exhibit strong many-body effect by Coulomb interaction, and this effect forms exciton, trion and more higher order excitonic states like four-body biexciton state.
To understand and observe its intrinsic photoluminescence properties, quality and substrate of TMDC is very important because of their thickness.
Here, we report a new method for preparing high-quality TMDC using a triple-furnace chemical vapor deposition (CVD) setup and hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) substrates, and report properties of photoluminescence and biexciton state in WS2 obtained by this method like excitation fluence and valley polarization etc.
By using samples synthesized by this method, we succeeded to stabilize biexciton state in WS2 drastically than ever before. Biexciton state can be exsit over 80 K, and low excitation power.
We think it is because synthesized WS2 has very high quality than before, so biexciton state can be exist at this condition.
