Recently, PM2.5 poses a health concern because it can be inhaled into and accumulate in respiratory system.
TOSHIBA is the only manufacturer of room air conditioner adaptable to purification standard of PM2.5 (HD-128 of JEMA) in Japan, utilizing plasma electric collector.
In this study, to improve the efficiency of PM2.5 collector, two important phenomena of the plasma electric collector are paid attention: charging of particles and collecting of charged particles.
Characteristics of the above mentioned phenomena are numerically analyzed by plasma simulation and particle tracking simulation.
The results showed that charged area spreads and the number of charges increases with increasing particle size.
