[13p-B10-6] Development of a Web Response System Using CGI and Application for Chemistry Education at University

Kiyoshi Takeda1 (1.Naruto Univ. of Educ.)

Keywords:web response system, interactive education, active learning

It has been requested to make lessons more interactive in university classes to enhance the effective participation of students. We developed a web-based classroom response system for increasing the interactiveness of the class. This system works as a CGI program on the web server, and the learners answer questions of the choice from several options using mobile or smart phones. Since the use of the present system only requires normal infrastructure already prepared in the modern classrooms at university, the cost for starting interactive lessons are very low. The author applied the system for summarizing the class at the end of the lesson, and for the peer-instruction method. The talk includes the introduction of the system along with the method for real classes.
