△ [13p-B12-12] Development of double photon coincidence Compton imaging system towards double photon emission computed tomography (DPECT)
Keywords:Compton imaging, PET
It is possible by using two imagers mounted with mechanical/electrical collimation to realize higher signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) localization of nuclides that emit double gamma rays at the same time (double photon emission nuclides) such as In-111, Co-60, or Cs-134, etc than PET or SPECT. Towards this new imaging methods called double photon emission computed tomography (DPECT), we developed DPECT system with two Compton imagers, which can estimate the source position on the intersection of two cones. This imaging system can be combined with PET scanner, so coincidence multi-nuclide imaging for positron emission nuclides and double photon emission nuclides can be realized by PET/DPECT hybrid system in the future.
