[13p-B2-1] Suppression of timing jitter in a gain-switched distributed feedback semiconductor laser
Keywords:gain-switching, optical feedback, timing jitter
In the optical system with a gain-switched semiconductor laser having delayed optical feedback, we have observed ASE noise waveforms as functions of the delay time, which correspond to cross-correlation waveforms between the intra-cavity pulses and the feedback pulses. Under the conditions achieving correlation peaks, accurate measurements of distance and temperature have successfully performed using a 1-km long optical fiber. In this study, to improve the measurement accuracy, we aim to suppress timing jitter in the gain-switched semiconductor laser by injecting external cw light.
