[13p-B3-1] Sub-nano-second optical pulse generation by pulsed excitation of a semiconductor-laser optical amplifier

Recently, not only the very short fs or ps pulse but also the sub-nano second laser pulse generation is mandatory in many laser applications. In this letter, 1.06nm CW laser beam was input into the semiconductor-laser optical amplifier (SOA), and the CW laser beam modulation was experimented by the sub-nano second electrical pulse drive. The input laser was switched with amplification by SOA, and the sub-nano laser pulse was successfully generated.
