[13p-B4-1] [INVITED] Nano-Interface Control of Colloidal Quantum Dot-Based Solar Cells and the Improvement in Energy Conversion Efficiency

Qing Shen1, Taro Toyoda1 (1.Univ. Electro-Commun.)

Keywords:quantum dots, solar cell, interface control

As one candidate of the next generation solar cells, colloidal quantum dot (CQD) based solar cells (CQDSCs) have attracted considerable interest and developed rapidly during the past few years. CQDSCs have some unique advantages such as the band-gap tunability, high absorption coefficient, multiple exciton generation (MEG) possibility and low cost for preparation. The theoretical energy conversion efficiency of CQDSCs has been predicted to be about 44%. Very recently, the record energy conversion efficiency of CQDSCs has been improved to be as high as over 11%. In this talk, I would like to focus on how to improve the efficiencies of both QD sensitized solar cells and QD heterojunction solar cells by controlling the nano-interfaces and the mechanism for the improvement of the energy conversion efficiency of CQDSCs will be discussed.
