[13p-B4-2] Photoinduced electron transfer of CdSe QDs / single crystal rutile TiO2 sensitization system: size dependence of the transfer rate constant and the transfer component
Keywords:quantum dot, photoinduced electron transfer, quantum dot sensitized solar cell
Semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) have many desirable characteristics. Despite the potential advantages, no major advance in the efficiency of quantum-dot-sensitized solar cells (QDSCs) has yet been reported. The poor efficiency can be attributed to photoinduced electron-transfer (ET) reactions. We describe the photoinduced ET of CdSe QDs on single crystal rutile TiO2 with different crystal orientations. The photoinduced ET rate constant decreases as the QD size increases, although the crystal quality of the QD increases. The component of the photoinduced ET increases with the increase of the QD size. The crystal quality, ET rate constant, and the component depend on the crystal orientation of the substrate.
