[13p-B5-15] Evaluation of the stability of peptide bonds by the scanning atom probe

Osamu Nishikawa1, Masahiro Taniguchi2 (1.Kanazawa Ins. Tech., 2.K. I. T.)

Keywords:peptide bond, biomolecule, cluster ion

Atomic level analysis of biomolecules by the sacanning atom probe (SAP) indicates that the SAP analysis is not only quantitative but also qualitative and the detected cluster ions are formed by the strongly bound atoms in the molecules. Accordingly, it is expected that CONH clusters will be detected when peptide milecules are analyzed if the peptide bonds are stable. It is interesting to know that nylon also has peptide bonds.
