Keywords:Catalysts

Indium implantation onto zeolite was carried out using a low-energy ion beam system or a pulse arc plasma source system. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic and scanning electron microscopic studies of the obtained samples revealed that the indium was successfully implanted. Besides, the indium implanted zeolite samples produced by the pulse arc plasma were found to be capable of catalyzing an organic chemical reaction (i.e., Friedel-Crafts alkylation). Then, we examined whether or not the catalytic ability of indium implanted zeolite samples depends on the indium dose, having established the optimal indium dose (i.e., 5 wt %) for inducing the catalytic effect.
