A basic study on standard mesoscopic perovskite solar cells based on current-voltage curves under dark has been investigated. A new current peak (Scheme 1a) appears only at reverse scan (RS) direction and when the solar cells were kept for several seconds at short-circuit conditions before starting the RS measurement (Scheme 1b). However, aforementioned peak disappears when the above experimental conditions are not taken into account.
This uncommon diode shape performs because some shallow and/or deep traps states located at the interface either perovskite/p-type or perovskite/n-type transport materials should be filled. To corroborate this hypothesis, different materials were analyzed, achieving in all cases similar trends.
