[14a-B3-6] QPM wavelength conversion using periodic laminar structured quartz

Hideki Ishizuki1, Takunori Taira1 (1.Inst. Mol. Science)

Keywords:wavelength conversion, quasi phase matching, quartz

Crystal quartz is useful optical material with wide transparent range and high damage resistance. Although quartz can be used as a nonlinear material, few applications for nonlinear wavelength conversion were reported because of its small birefringence. Quasi-phase matching (QPM) enable all nonlinear materials to realize an effective wavelength conversion by periodic inversion of nonlinear coefficient, and high-intensity wavelength conversion by crystal quartz can be expected if we can construct the QPM structure. We report on realization of QPM quartz by periodic laminar structure and improvement of conversion efficiency by increasing periodic stacking numbers.
