We investigated selective trapping of nano-sized dye aggregates by using plasmonic optical trapping. It was suggested that molecular alignment is an important factor for optical gradient force. Plasmonic optical tweezers (POT) is an efficient manipulation tool for various nanoparticles. POT of molecular softmaterials such as artificial polymer, DNA, and proteins, holds a great promise for applications in chemistry: for instance, photochemical reactions and crystallization of these matters are expected to be trapped at plasmonic active sites. In the present study, we focused our attention on POT of nano-sized fluorescence dye aggregates. They form H-aggregates and J-aggregates with different molecular orientation. In the J-aggregates, the molecules take a head-to-tail structure, while the H-aggregates take a face-to-face structure. We investigated POT behaviors of a mixture solution of dye aggregates. We suggest a novel selective POT on the basis of molecular alignment.
