[14a-P5-7] Evaluation of Mechanical Properties of Elastomer Nanosheets for the Development of Flexible Electronics
Keywords:Elastomer, Nanosheet, Flexible electronics
Development of highly flexible/stretchable thin films is of importance in the field of flexible and printable electronics. We developed free-standing ultrathin films with a thickness of several hundreds of nanometers (nanosheets) comprised of one of the most widely used elastomers, poly(styrene-butadiene-styrene) (SBS). From the mechanical properties characterized by a bulge test, the SBS nanosheets showed a much lower elastic modulus (ca. 0.045 GPa, 212 nm thickness) compared with poly(styrene) (PS) nanosheets (ca. 1.19 GPa, 217 nm thickness). Also, SBS nanosheets were useful as substrates for printing conductive inks such as conductive polymers and metal nanoinks. Therefore, they are expected to contribute on the development of flexible electronics.
