[14p-B12-9] Thermal conductivity of layered boride crystals: Anisotropy of AlB2 and effect of building defects on TmAlB4

We report on thermal conductivity measurements on the microscale on single crystals of layered borides. Large effect of building defects on the thermal conductivities of needle-like α-TmAlB4 crystals was discovered.
Measurement on micro-thin AlB2 crystals revealed that the single crystals are thermally anisotropic with the c-axis thermal conductivity nearly twice the thermal conductivity of the a-b plane.
