高精度テラヘルツ偏光測定装置を開発し、可視光に対して不透明な高分子材料であるフッ素ゴム内部の異方性を調べた。偏光測定の結果、今回用いた試料においては無延伸状態でも大きな光学異方性（複屈折）が存在することが明らかになった。この光学異方性は充填剤であるカーボンブラックの異方性に起因していることから、テラヘルツ偏光計測を用いて内部状態の異方性を検査できることが示された。
