Keywords:thermal emission, plasmonics

Selective thermal emitters utilizing Tamm plasmon polaritons (TPPs) based multilayer structures were demonstrated for the first time in experiment. The optimized structures were fabricated and the measured emissivity and absorptivity spectra are compared to the simulation results. The tunability of the thermal emission can be achieved by changing the DBR’s last layer thickness. In addition, the relations between optical constant of the metals and emission properties of TPPs based emitters are investigated. Low-cost, lithography-free and large-area selective thermal emitters can be realized by TPPs based structures.
