By adopting cluster targets in laser-driven ion acceleration, we have demonstrated the significant increase of the maximum acceleration energy. In the present study, we have developed an apparatus for forming hydrogen cluster targets using a pulse valve equipped with a cryostat in order to perform clean proton generation experiments. The acceleration energy depends on the cluster size. Therefore, we have developed the size distribution analytical method based on the Mie scattering and determined the size distributions by measuring angular distributions of light scattered by the hydrogen cluster.
