[14p-C41-6] Birefringence Dependence of Lasing Circular Polarization in InAlGaAs QW VCSEL

Spin-controlled vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) are promising interface between electron spin polarization and coherent light with high degree of circular polarization. However, birefringence of optical cavity may lead to mode competition between linear and circular polarizations. In this study, we experimentally investigate the effect of birefringence in InAlGaAs quantum well VCSEL on lasing circular polarization.
