It has been commonly used the interdigitated array electrodes for improving sensing performance of the electrochemical impedance biosensors. However, according to current density analysis, a strong current flows through the edge portion but no current exists on the flat upper surface of the electrodes, even though the upper portion has a very well-defined surface state. In this study, we fabricated the parallel-plate type electrodes with a narrow gap, intending high sensitivity and stability measurement with the well-defined surface electrode.
