Optical coherence microscopy (OCM) is a 3-dimensional (3D) imaging technique based on optical coherence tomography (OCT) and confocal microscopy, which provides 3D high spatial resolution in tissue. However, the imaging depth of OCM was limited by light attenuation due to multiple light scattering and absorption by water. Recently, it has been reported that 1700 nm spectral band is a promising choice for improving the imaging depth due to total light attenuation in samples. In this report, we have developed the OCM using a fiber based supercontinuum source at 1700 nm and demonstrated deep tissue imaging with 1.4 µm lateral and 2.8 µm axial resolution. The observations of animal tissue samples indicated that the 1700-nm OCM enables us to visualize detailed structures in the sample at a depth over 1 mm.
