[15a-P3-7] Microscopic study of microbubbles generated by photoexcitation of gold nanoparticles in water-alcohol mixture
Keywords:Thermoplasmonics, gold nanoparticle, microbubble
In this study, the microbubbles, which are generated on photo-exited gold nanoparticles illuminated by a continuous-wave laser in ethanol/water and methanol/water mixtures, were observed using an optical microscope. The bubbles became larger than several tens µm after 15 sec laser illumination. The size depended on the alcohol concentration. The lifetime of bubbles were also studied by measuring the duration time. The lifetime had a peak at around 30 % of ethanol and methanol when the mixture ratio was varied.
