[15a-P7-9] Lifetime Measurements of Erbium Ions by Using an Absorption Pump-probe Method

We report on lifetime measurements of Erbium ion metastable state in fiber propagation directions by using a pump-probe technique. Fiber length and input power dependences are reported. It is found that the lifetime keeps nearly constant for all the conditions and that the average lifetime is about 10 ms.
