We have developed the synthetic methods of semiconductor nanoparticles of ZnSe:Mn/ZnS.These nanoparticles have the Mn-doping and the core/shell structure. Our approach to two characteristics of semiconductor nanoparticles is based on the hydrothermal synthesis. As a result, a PL band which originates from the intra-cation transition, so-called d-d transition of tetrahedrally coordinated Mn2+ ions, is clearly observed at ~600nm, indicating that Mn2+ ions are doped inside ZnSe QDs. Furthermore, the core/shell structure doubled quantum efficiency. The quantum efficiency of ZnSe:Mn/ZnS was 31%.
