Atomic strucures of lanthanum hexaboride (LaB6) (100) surface was analyzed with LEED-IV measurement, where IV curves of six different sets of equivalent diffraction spots were measured and reproduced by optimizing surface relaxation. As a result, we found that the outermost La atoms are displaced from the position of the ideal suraface by approximately 0.03 nm, while the covalent framework of boron atoms is far less deformed. These characteristics are quite consistent with results of previous theoretical studies.
