Barium titanate (BT) is the first and one of the highly investigated piezoelectric ceramics. Various approaches have been reported for the enhancement of overall electrical properties of BT ceramics. It has long been reported that a fine-grained BT ceramics exhibit superior dielectric, piezoelectric, and ferroelectric properties. Enhanced piezoelectric properties for grain oriented BT ceramics and domain engineered BT single crystal have also been reported. In this study, we optimized the preparation and processing techniques for the improvement of piezoelectric and ferroelectric properties of BT ceramics. The prepared samples were thermally annealed at various temperatures and the comparative studies for the structural characteristics and electrical properties were made for the samples before and after thermal annealing. The significant increase in the d33 values is observed after thermal annealing over 1000 oC.
