[16a-A34-6] Conditions for a large value of ZT and development of new thermoelectric materials

Tsunehiro Takeuchi1 (1.Toyota Tech. Inst.)

Keywords:thermoelectric materials, linear response theory, electronic structure

A new guiding principle for developing practical thermoelectric materials was constructed in the context of linear response theory. This principle was realized by knowing that the energy range determining three electron transport properties (electrical conductivity, Seebeck coefficient, and electron thermal conductivity) is different from each other. We confirmed that the value of ZT significantly increased when a tiny modification was applied for the electronic structure of a given thermoelectric material. Detailed information about the required conditions will be explained at the presentation together with some typical examples of material developme
