At a cosmetic industry, an evaluation of penetration speed and/or depth of cosmetics using alternative skin samples (i.e., do not use animals) has been necessary. In our group, a sensing plate, which can generate THz pulses, has been developed. Here, the sensing plate was proposed in order to evaluate the penetration of cosmetic liquids in a bird skin sample, which has a multilayer structure, by applying a terahertz-Time-of-Flight method. In this evaluation method, the penetration speed and/or depth in the resected skin sample can be estimated.
