[16a-B4-3] Observation of third harmonic generation in a microbottle resonator

Third harmonic generation (THG), which is one of the third order optical nonlinear effects, has been studied to create ultraviolet sources by using various photonic devices such as whispering-gallery-mode microtoroid. We observed the THG from telecom wavelengths to visible green wavelengths in a microbottle resonator with an ultra-high quality factor exceeding 10⁸. We also found that the generated light from THG was widely distributed along the axial direction of the microbottle resonator.
