Keywords:plasmon, tip-enhanced raman, silver nanowire

We have recently demostrated a noble nanoscopic method using plasmonic waveguiding effect. Particularly, chemically synthesized silver nanowire has been used as a waveguide. Surface enhanced Raman scattering /Fluorescence can be efficiently excited with propagating plasmons (so-called “remote excitation”), resulting in extremely high signal-to-noise ratio in Raman/fluorescence spectra/images. In this contribution, we will introduce applications of this ‘remote excitation’ spectroscopic technique to a living single cell interrogation (single-cell endoscopy) as well as surface analysis (tip enhanced Raman scattering miscroscopy).
