[16a-C41-3] Bistable magnetization switching induced by the spin-orbit torque in Pt/Co/Pd structure
against the thermal disturbance

Keywords:spin orbit torque, magnetization switching

In Pt/Co/Pd structure, spin orbit torque (SOT) magnetization switching was investigated. When the in-plane field was applied perpencicular to the current (Hy), multi domain formation due to the Joule heating was observed regardless of the current direction. In the case of field parallel to the current (Hx), magnetization switching by SOT was observed. In addition, multi domain state was not confirmed at all under Hx even when the large current was applied. This means that the SOT forcibly makes the magnetization of the system single domain against the current-induced thermal disturbance enough to randomize the magnetic structure and the direction of the magnetization is uniquely determined by the sign of the current.
