In this paper, first time we have analyzed the Bragg fiber having different arbitrary core profile. Its dispersion, power confinement, group delay and polarization mode dispersion are studied. Waveguide dispersion is negligible in the case of triangular solid core Bragg fiber. Power is tightly confined in first cladding portion. It is found that waveguide dispersion is minimized with the variation of the shape of the core of Bragg fiber and total dispersion is equal to the material dispersion. Comparison of power confinement with conventional Bragg fiber is also leads that in the second case, power remains more tightly confined in first cladding. These results can be easily extended to more complex refractive index core profile like an exponential, Gaussian, parabolic etc. This profile may be more useful in the broadband and WDM network to satisfy the higher demand of bandwidth.
