Food security and food safety are crucial factors with regard to protection against food poisoning and plant disease in the food quality industry and in the management of agricultural production and food processing. We focus on disinfection using atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge, APDBD, plasma to prevent fungal diseases of agricultural products. One of the serious fungal diseases of a citrus fruit is caused by green mould, Penicillium digitatum. In this study, low-temperature disinfection techniques using plasma for inactivation of P. digitatum spore on Citrus unshiu by APDBD was investigated as practical usage for agricultural applications of plasma technologies.
