Radiative energy transfer (RET) is the mechanism of re-absorption/emission and can take place over several micrometers. However, the efficiency is quite low because donor emits radially. In this research, light from donor is directionally guided to acceptor with self-assembled microcavities from energy-donating/accepting conjugated polymers, resulting in realization of efficient and long-range RET.
