Since most carbon and organic materials show p-type, they have been applied in the development of uni-leg thermoelectric systems. However, it is still a challenge in developing the n-type materials that enable the design of more efficient bi-polar thermoelectric systems. We have recently consider to introduce appropriate counter cations in order to compensate negative charges on n-type single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). Here we report the thermoelectric properties and air-stability of n-type SWNTs coordinated with apparently-large cations such as crown ether-potassium complexes.
