L X rays with the energy from 10 keV to 20 keV are emitted from most transuranium elements (TRU) following their α decays with relatively high probability. 244Cm is a typical TRU in a nuclear fuel reprocessing. In this work, spectroscopic measurement was conducted for L X rays emitted from a 244Cm source with using a TES microcalorimeter. The TES microcalorimeter consisted of a Au absorber of 5 μm thick. The surface area of the Au absorber was 160 x 160 μm2. The energy resolution of the TES microcalorimeter was obtained to be 39 eV FWHM by analyzing a Pu Lα1 peak of 14.28 keV in the experimental energy spectrum of L X rays emitted from the 244Cm source.
