The tilted-pump-pulse-front scheme with a LiNbO3 crystal to generate intense single-cycle terahertz (THz) pulses is detailed. It is shown that the 1-MV/cm electric field of a THz pulse allows us to excite electrons from valence to conduction band of GaAs QW and observe bright exciton luminescence. It is introduced that the narrowband intense THz pulses allows us to coherently control the excitonic states, and moreover to excite the magnetic resonance by enhanced magnetic field enhanced with a split ring resonator.
