[19p-P1-70] Atomic magnetic moment in diluted magnetic semiconductor GaGdAs detected by x-ray magnetic circular dichroism

In order to detect the origin of room temperature magnetism of diluted magnetic semiconductor GaGdAs, we made GaGdAs monolayers and GaGdAs/GaAs superlattices by MBE, and investigated the structure and macroscopic magnetization as well as the atomic magnetic moment by means of XAS and MCD using synchrotron radiation. In TEM image of GaGdAs layer, some grains with high Gd concentration exist. From MCD signal, we estimated Gd atomic magnetic moment as 6.1 muB for superlattice sample of Gd 1.3%.
