In order to evaluate the effects of additive for the organic thin film solar cells, real-time observation for the drying process of the cast film was conducted by simultaneous measurements of grazing incidence wide angle X-ray scattering (GIWAXS, BL46XU at Spring-8) and UV-Vis absorption spectra. We used P3HT single-component solution for semiconducting polymer and 1,8-diiodooctane (DIO) and 3-methylthiophene (3MT) for additives. The diffraction peak intensity originated from packing of P3HT side-chain was drastically decreased for the film with DIO additive, whereas increased for the film with 3MT additive. The effects of additive in P3HT crystal growth were found to be different for 3MT and DIO additive.
