We evaluated electrochemical characteristics of enzyme/graphene electrodes for enzyme-based biofuel cell applications. Monolayer graphene films were grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on Cu foils. To evaluate the intrinsic electrochemical properties, the graphene films were transferred onto inert SiO2/Si substrates by using a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) method. Transferred graphene was soaked in glucose oxidase solution to immobilize enzyme. Glucose oxidase is an enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation reaction of glucose. An oxidation peak was clearly observed in the cyclic voltammogram. The enzyme/graphene electrodes exhibited an electrode reaction of the direct electron transfer on anode electrodes.
