We have investigated infrared photocurrent spectra of two-step photon absorption in multi-stacked In(Ga)As quantum dot solar cells by utilizing Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. In addition to the previous report, wider bandgap materials, AlGaAs and InGaP, were utilized as the host materials. Higher infrared absorption edge was obtained with InGaP barrier layers, indicating the existence of suitable quantum confinement states for two-step photon absorption. Therefore, high-efficiency operation at room temperature would be possible by optimizing the device architecture.
