When yttrium aluminum perovskite (YAP) single crystal is annealed thermally, the XRD pattern inherently due to YAP and photoluminescence (PL) peaks due to Cr3+ and Er3+ disappear at around 1250 oC, but they all reappear at 1300 oC. In other words, the two PL peaks and the XRD pattern have very similar dependence on the annealing temperature with correlation coefficients higher than 0.9. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that disappearance and reappearance of the PL peaks is triggered by the disappearance and reappearance of the crystalline structure of YAP, which gives strong support to our previous conclusion that the two PL peaks appear only when YAP has high crystallinity.
