Recently, optical fiber sensing based on stimulated Brillouin scattering has widely been studied because its characteristics enable us to measure long-range distributed strain and temperature lurking in optical fibers. Particularly, Brillouin dynamic grating (BDG), a grating generated in optical fibers by 2 counterpropagating lights, Pump and Probe lights, has the potential to realize discriminative measurement of temperature and strain. Furthermore, correlation domain technique has made it possible to achieve localizing measured section. In previous research, the enhancement of the spatial resolution in systems using correlation domain technique was reported applying apodization to Pump and Probe lights, which are needed to excite BDG. In this research, we demonstrated that we can obtain higher spatial resolution by applying apodization to Read light, which is used to discriminate strain and temperature by observing the spectrum of the BDG reflection.
