[20p-H135-9] Mechanism of THz generation in contact grating device

Optical rectification in the LiNbO3 crystal pumped by the optical laser pulse with tilted pulse front has been widely used for the intense THz light generation. We have developed the contact grating method which realizes the pulse front tilting and the THz light generation in the same device. The contact grating device is extremely compact, and therefore, can realize the large aperture size for further intense THz light generation. In this paper, we report the optimization of the device for obtaining high conversion efficiency, and discuss the mechanism of the THz light generation in this device.
