[20p-KD-6] High-Density Helicon Plasma Production and Plasma Propulsion

Shunjiro Shinohara1 (1.TUAT)

Keywords:Plasma,Propulsion,Helicon

Helicon plasmas have been used in various fields because of a high-density production with a high efficiency. Plasma propulsion is suited for a deep space mission, since it has a higher specific pulse than a chemical propulsion, causing a high fuel efficiency. However, there is a problem of a direct contact between electrodes and a plasma, leading to a short lifetime due to an erosion of electrodes. In order to overcome this problem, we will introduce a project research based on an electrodeless concept of helicon plasma production and acceleration.
