We report the effect of aberration on the focusing property of higher-order radially polarized beams for the tight focusing condition using an objective lens with high numerical aperture. For example, for the focusing with a water-immersion object lens, the spherical aberration caused by improper coverslip thickness strongly degrades the smaller focal spot characteristics of higher-order radially polarized beams.
