We report mechanoluminescence(ML) property in layered-structure compound Sr₃Sn₂O₇:Sm³⁺ and investigate the effect of H₃BO₃ addition . By the addition of H₃BO₃, the prepared Sr₃Sn₂O₇:Sm³⁺ shows preferred orientation of c-axis. Moreover, the ML of this sample can also exhibit a 5-times intensity enhancement than normal Sr₃Sn₂O₇:Sm³⁺.
