In a laser scanning retinal imaging display, it is necessary to combine the red-green-blue laser beams into one single beam followed by scanning onto the screen retina. We have realized a compact waveguide-type combiner as such laser combiners. Here, we present a simulation and an experiment on the spot size convertors for connecting the combiner and the semiconductor laser.
